About Tanya

My love for color began early in life, but it was formalized when I graduated from The Art Institute in 1995. This education gave me a solid foundation in color theory, design principles, and the psychological impact of color choices.

After graduation, I was fortunate to work under several mentors who taught me not just the technical aspects of color consultation, but the importance of truly listening to clients and understanding their unique needs. This mentorship period was invaluable in shaping my approach to color consultation.

I then spent years in corporate environments, gaining experience with large-scale projects and diverse client needs. My time at Sherwin-Williams was particularly formative, where I deepened my understanding of paint products, application techniques, and how different lighting conditions affect color perception.

The idea for Color Guru came from countless conversations with friends, family, and colleagues who felt overwhelmed by color choices. I realized there was a real need for personalized, accessible color guidance that goes beyond just picking pretty colors – it's about creating spaces that truly support how people want to live and feel.

Today, I'm passionate about demystifying the color selection process and giving my clients the confidence to make choices they'll love for years to come. Every project is an opportunity to help someone create a space that truly feels like home.
